Construction update: Middle School elevator tower gets roof

Surveying the fire lane and installing underground storm drain At new Admin/Library Building, we’re tying-in sewer lines and installing underground conduit. Pouring concrete on vertical walls of a portion of admin building (bottom photo), and framing walls on the other segment of the building. Middle School Building (top photo): Installing fire riser and low-voltage electrical lines, a handrail on the second floor, and restroom finishes. Installation continues of handrail on the second floor and restroom finishes. Elevator tower roofing taking place. Also installing drywall within elevator tower.

The new staircase is open!

The Outdoor Stairway is Open! Linking the upper-level parking lot to the Middle School Quad, it was opened for student and staff use on   April 22. All exposed shellac finishes at the wood shop and ceramic’s room have been encapsulated with a primer and two coats of paint as a PCB Interim measure. The water leak at the upper playground was permanently repaired. SMMUSD Conducting Surveys on Malibu Campus Plan

The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District is conducting an online survey of Malibu community members to gather input for the Malibu High School campus plan. The survey will be combined with those taken by Malibu Pathway parents, students and administrators. The survey will be used to guide planning for the new middle school (grades six through eight) and high school (grades nine through 12). The surveys ask community members questions about their current use of the high school facilities, which spaces need improvement, how to prioritize those that need changing, and asks for comment on the facilities that need enhancement to increase school and community use. The district is asking that surveys be completed by February 1. “The surveys inform us in aspects of planning the new Malibu Middle and High School campus,” said Carey Upton, chief operations officer for the district. “They will also help us understand the role of the campus in the larger community.”  The surveys are

Construction Update 10/23/17

Music, Art & Spec Ed/Shops Buildings (F, I , G, & D Restrooms) 1) Two Story Main Building D Boys & Girls Restrooms - Ceramic tile correction work took place Friday and Saturday, temporary exhaust fans were installed Saturday.  Restrooms were turned over to the District on Monday, October 23.  Remaining - Painting is scheduled for next week after hours. 2) Andy Gump Portable Restrooms will be removed by the morning of Wednesday, October 25.  The area will be cleaned with a pressure washer on Wednesday as well. 3) Kiln Room - Exhaust fan installation, fire stopping around penetrations, and some drywall took place Saturday.  Kiln was turned over to the District on Monday, October 23.  Remaining - Painting scheduled for next week and Fire Damper installation scheduled within next two weeks and campus fire watch to remain in place. 4) Dark Room (temporary renovation due to mold discovery) - Construction Change Directive received from HMC Architects on Tuesday, October 1
